Location
This receipt is chronologically first among those found in Jarndyke’s wallet, and puts his location in Aurora, the city of his residence, on December 10, NE0021.

Funds
Jarndyke withdrew $1,765 – three-quarters of his savings – presumably to fund actions taken at the Kicking Water Manufacturing Facility.

Location
It is unknown why Jarndyke ventured south to Springfield, located in our Illinois. Proximity to the border with the Heartland Zone – and the front at St. Louis – may be a factor. Scholars have theorized that Jarndyke was meeting with insurgents in the city and/or picking up supplies. The gas station receipt puts him in the city on December 11, NE0021.

The receipts in Jarndyke’s wallet document the mundane purchases most people make on a day-to-day basis. Given the other artifacts in the Jarndyke Ark, however, receipts for items such as bolt cutters and gasoline cans take on a potentially darker dimension. The dates and locations on the receipts were used to establish the path Jarndyke took from Aurora down to Springfield and back up to Stillwater. The documents appear below in chronological order. The last is a parking ticket received in Stillwater in present-day Minnesota on 12/14/NE021; the Jarndyke Ark was found in Luck, Wisconsin, 45 miles to the northeast.

Location
Jarndyke appears to have arrived in Loves Park, in our Illinois, on December 11, NE0021, the same day he visited Springfield. Presumably staying with his girlfriend Patricia Harback and her son, Jarndyke visited a grocery store in the late evening.

From this hardware store receipt and the letter found in the Jarndyke envelope it appears that Jarndyke stayed in Loves Park for two nights, venturing up to Eau Claire on December 13, NE0021.

Along with the hardware store receipt found in his wallet, this receipt from a gun dealer places him in Eau Claire on December 13, NE0021, where he stocked up on supplies assumed to be used at Kicking Water Manufacturing Facility.

9 mm Ammunition
Jarndyke purchased ammunition with 124-gram powder for a 9 mm pistol. Along with ammunition for an assault rifle, this purchase leads scholars to believe he was preparing for a violent assault on the Kicking Water Manufacturing Facility.

Jarndyke purchased .223-caliber ammunition with 55-gram powder for an assault rifle.

Kevlar Vest
Jarndyke purchased a bullet-proof vest, further evidence that he was about to engage in acts of violence at Kicking Water Manufacturing Facility.

Keep the GLZ Free
The slogan seen here at the bottom of the receipt appears sporadically in Arks found across the GLZ, reflecting a libertarian impulse that runs counter to the control imposed by Zone authorities.
